After the tours to Indonesia in 1997 and 1999 Ensemble Gending did her third tour from 1st to 10th of July 2006. There were 4 performances given in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surakarta (Solo). The Erasmushuis and the Hgis-foundation supported this project. During her visit the ensemble was asked to perform in Bantul, the area that was stricken by a huge earthquake in June 2006. This tour was organized by Piet Hein van de Poel as a tribute to the Dutch composer Ton de Leeuw. Together with the three pieces that had there premiere in Cologne: Malaikat of Philemon Mukarno, Nina bobok bagi pengantin of Jonas Bisquert, Antara Benua dan Benua of Roderik de Man and Celana of Klaus Kuiper, three premieres of Javanese composers were performed. Dody Satya Ekagustidiman wrote his Balakatunda, Dedy Hernawan his Boyong and Slamet Sjukur his Gameland 2. Work with genial tendencies and another way of treating time and form. In their work a sharp battle was fought between western form and eastern harmony. Big feelings alternated with Javanese peace of mind.
This program is played in the beginning of 2006 in different Dutch theatres.
